I’m not one to miss the opportunity to explore a new place, even straight after a 14 hour flight. So I made the most of my 17 hour stop over and went to explore Dubai. I got the feeling that this was a global hub that the white man had very little to do with. It was very multi-cultural, with Arab, Africans, Indians and Asians. But I felt like I stood out. I stayed in the old parts of the city and didn’t venture out to visit the million star hotels. I walked round for a few hours, then sought refugee in an air conditioned mall. I then went back to my hotel to sleep away the sweltering afternoon heat, before returning to the airport for my flight the Pakistan.

If Aceh was a dream, but being home was a haze. I’d initially planned to be back for 2 weeks, but then I found out that my Pakistan visa could take up to 4 weeks to process, so I thought I’d have a bit more time. A lot happened in Banda Aceh which I never got the chance to blog about them at the time. Now I’m in a different place and the scattered memories seem like a dream. So it seems important to make a record of this dream.

I must apologise, it seems my blog has been affected by that great Catch-22, when you’ve got time to write, there’s nothing interesting happening, and when think are happening which you want to write about, you don’t have time to write.
I’ll put in some more posts about about my last couple of weeks later, but my big news is – I’m coming home!
